RULES AND GUIDELINES

You didn't think you'd be able to get away that easy, did you? ;) Although we encourage the greatest variety of musical style, composition, process and production as possible, there's a few guidelines we'd like entrants to adhere to. We're pretty laid back about them, but keep them in mind when working on your albums.

1. Each album must consist of at least six (6) tracks, and be at least twenty (20) minutes long in total.

2. The album should have a cohesive theme or feel so that it works well as an album. Concept albums are welcome but not necessary.

3. Each album must include a text file, with artist information and tracklisting. Graphically designed album covers and liner notes are not required but are encouraged.

4. We will now be hosting all submissions! Each album must be submitted via FTP by midnight GMT, January 1st 2008. The FTP address and login information will be available starting Friday, November 2nd 2007.

5. Upon completion of the album upload, the info must be submitted via email to admin@ubikmusic.org and as a post in the submission forum by midnight GMT, January 1st 2008.

6. Each album must be posted in MP3 format. It's the most universal way to do things, since not everybody can play wacky stuff like lossless FLAC. Any bitrate, in CBR or VBR, is acceptable.

7.  Participants must submit their official group or individual artist name and information via email to admin@ubikmusic.org and as a post in the registration thread by Friday, November 2nd 2007.

8.  Remixes, arrangements and cover songs are permitted, as long as they don't make up more than one third (1/3) of your total number of songs. That means that, on a six-track album, the maximum number of R/A/C songs is two; for a nine-track album three; and so forth. Remember, we want as much original material as possible!

9. Sampling in any form is permitted, provided the sources of any sampled material are credited in the included textfile.

10. Guest artists are allowed to contribute to an artist's album, as long as they are credited in the album's textfile. Artists may also participate in multiple groups or projects entering the contest.

11. Any artist may submit multiple albums, as long as notice is given before Friday, December 7th 2007 of additional entries.

12. Just like always: Spread the word, go nuts and have fun!
